IoT Ready Displays

Unless you’ve been living an off-the-grid lifestyle or you’re a vampire just being re-awakened from a century long nap, you should be well aware of the IoT explosion. IoT ( Internet of Things ) simply put, is the ever growing cloud-based communication between machine-to-machine ( M2M ) devices.  Lying at the core of the ‘smart’ IoT machine movement are the various types of sensors that not only collect and report data but also allow for this crucial information to be analyzed via smart phone devices and tablets using cloud-based applications. Those famous sci-fi scenes where a captain of a spacecraft asks the central computer for progress data and is given the information instantaneously is no longer just bound to the world of a ‘galaxy far far away’. Nope. It is here.

Monitoring Your IoT Displays

Cars can now talk. Agricultural equipment can now talk. City infrastructures can too. So why not displays? Volanti now offers ‘Talking’ IoT ready displays that allow for up to the minute communication as well as help with the monitoring of display diagnostics in and around the field.  With the ability to network multiple displays through ethernet connections, one can now have the ability to control and monitor entire display rollouts with the simple use of a smart IoT app. Find out how any given display is functioning or simply use the data gathered from the IoT app as a way to rollout market specific content campaigns.

Another way Volanti’s IoT ready displays can communicate via ethernet is through a series of set control sensor functions. Send commands to see what the status temperature threshold is of a particular display or equip your IoT ready displays with light sensors to monitor the amount of ambient light hitting the screen to ensure that your content is clear and unaffected by glare.

Creating IoT Cloud-Based Apps

So we’ve learned how sensors can help with IoT ready display communication but now the question is; how do you go about creating a cloud-based app to make use of all the valuable real-time data that is being collected?  Easy. Amazon Web Services or AWS, specifically AWS IoT. AWS is a managed cloud platform that lets connected devices easily and securely interact with cloud applications and other devices. AWS IoT can support billions of devices and trillions of messages, and can process and route those messages to AWS endpoints and to other devices reliably and securely. With AWS IoT, your applications can keep track of and communicate with all your devices, all the time, even when they aren’t connected.

AWS IoT makes it easy to use AWS services like AWS Lambda, Amazon Kinesis, Amazon S3, Amazon Machine Learning, and Amazon DynamoDB to build IoT applications that gather, process, analyze and act on data generated by connected devices, without having to manage any infrastructure.
