Construction workflows are rarely entirely digital. Even with cloud collaboration and powerful applications like Bluebeam, there are still stacks of printed plans on job sites. This may be fine for walking around the site, but when back in the office, it is time to return to the digital version.
That’s where QR workflows come in...
QR Codes as a Bridge
By printing a QR code on a plan sheet, you create a direct link back to the digital file. Scan the code, and you can open the same plan in the associated application. No hunting through file directories, no wondering whether you’re looking at the latest revision. The QR is the bridge that takes you from paper to digital in a single step.
Introducing the QR Scanner Bracket for Volanti Plan Review Tables
We’re releasing a dedicated QR scanner bracket designed for our Volanti plan review tables. Mounted directly to the display, it gives you a quick, consistent way to scan printed plans and bring them onto the screen.
Here’s how it works:
- Printed Plan in Hand: You’re looking at a drawing set in paper form, with a QR code printed in the title block.
- Scan on the QR Code: Using the QR scanner attached to the Volanti plan table, scan the QR code on the plan.
- Linked Digital Access: The linked plan file opens on the display in your chosen application — for example, Bluebeam — ready for review, markup, or sharing.
The Benefit
This simple addition creates a powerful workflow advantage:
- Paper and Digital Stay in Sync: Plans in circulation can always be checked against the latest digital file.
- Faster Access: No more searching through folders or cloud drives. The QR takes you straight there.
- Smarter Collaboration: A conversation around a paper drawing can move seamlessly onto a Volanti table for interactive review.
A Practical Hybrid Workflow
Construction isn’t abandoning paper any time soon, but it doesn’t have to be a separate island. With QR-enabled plans and Volanti’s QR scanner bracket, teams can work in a hybrid way: quick and familiar on paper, powerful and collaborative on digital, with an effortless handoff between the two.
This is another step toward reducing friction in the construction plan workflow, making it easier to keep teams aligned, whether they’re around a desk, on a jobsite, or working remotely.
